Louisiana cyber elections

In early August, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry renewed an Executive Order declaring a cybersecurity State of Emergency in the State due to “severe, intentional, cybersecurity breaches of public entities throughout the State of Louisiana” as well as the “imminent threat” of future attacks.

“Today, I’m going to sign an executive order that states that all Louisiana agencies, while they must offer voter registration with every application for service assistance, are going to make sure that they inform people it is illegal to register to vote if you’re not a citizen,” Landry said during the press conference.

Louisiana voter rolls corrupt

Since mid-2021, I have had the opportunity to analyze probably 30 state voter rolls. All are bad in numerous ways, sometimes the same ways and sometimes ways unique to the state. Of them all, Louisiana would be vying with Wisconsin for the absolute worst. What sets these two states apart is the casual disregard to anything approaching professional data…

Louisiana’s voter roll data and its systems of managing that data look like a professional data system only if you use that same imagination…

Highlights (really Lowlights):

* Over 35,000 Louisiana voters share a registration number with another Louisiana voter, making it impossible to say for sure which voted when.
* Potentially millions of missing voter history records
* Voter IDs not issued sequentially, but rather through an unnecessarily complex method makes backdating registrations simple.
