Every vote Counts in Tight Primaries! WI and MN Primaries

Low Turnout for Summer Primaries Makes Your Vote More Important!

August 13 Primaries: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Connecticut, Vermont, and South Dakota

Five state are holding primaries on Tuesday, August 13th, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Connecticut, Vermont, and South Dakota, but it is the contests in Wisconsin and Minnesota that are most consequential for MAGA.

DTR PAC Endorsed Candidates on August 13th Ballots:

Wisconsin U.S. Senate: Eric Hovde, R

Minnesota U.S. Senate: Royce White, R

MN-02 Joe Teirab, R

Connecticut U.S. Senate: Gerry Smith, R

More Information About These Congressional Primaries…

Wisconsin Wisconsin U. S Senate Eric Hovde
Eric Hovde, a successful entrepreneur endorsed by President Trump and many prominent Wisconsin Republicans, has no significant competition in the Republican primary.  The challenge will be to defeat incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin in the general election and help President Trump carry Wisconsin. Hovde is campaigning hard and can afford to self-fund his Senate race. (A recent Marquette University Law School poll shows Baldwin is only leading Hovde 52% to 47% among likely voters – very encouraging since we are not even past the primary yet.)
Of particular note about Hovde’s personal character is that while still in his 30’s, Eric and his brother founded the Hovde Foundation which now supports 12 ‘Hovde Homes’ to aid poor, vulnerable or sex-trafficked children in Africa, and Central and South America by providing residences, schooling and spiritual support. You can read about Eric Hovde’s commitment to helping the disadvantaged through the Hovde Foundation on Hovde’s campaign website.

Minnesota Minnesota U.S. Senate:

Royce White Royce White won the Minnesota GOP convention endorsement back in the spring to challenge Amy Klobuchar in the U.S. Senate race. Royce White, the well- known basketball star and conservative podcaster is endorsed by President Trump and Steve Bannon.  While the Minnesota Senate race is considered a long shot, Royce White is the ideal candidate to appeal to Minnesota swing voters. The stronger President Trump and Royce White run in the general election, the more conservative Republicans will win down ballot races.

MN-02 Joe Teirab
Joe Teirab is a former Marine and federal prosecutor. Republicans have targeted the Second Congressional District as a pickup seat. Teirab is the consensus candidate endorsed by President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson. (Note: Taylor Rahm dropped out of the race last month to serve as senior advisor to Trump’s Minnesota campaign, upsetting conservatives. Rahm’s name will still appear on the ballot.)

Teirab is running as an America First fighter in Congress who wants to close our border and shut down the drug cartels. Teirab is pro life and sits on the board of the crisis pregnancy center that assisted his own mother when she was pregnant with him. Teirab will not vote to codify Roe in federal law, but accepts that voters may choose exceptions for rape and life of the mother. Teirab will challenge Democrat incumbent Angie Craig in the general. Republicans must increase their narrow Republican House majority and Angie Craig’s congressional seat is considered vulnerable, especially if Trump does well in Minnesota.

Connecticut

Connecticut conducts closed primaries. Only registered Republicans can vote in the Republican primary. Connecticut is rated a solid majority Democrat state.  The national Republican Party isn’t targeting any Connecticut seats for a pickup, nevertheless, there are two active Republican primaries.

U.S. Senate: Gerry Smith
Gerry Smith, a Beacon Falls First Selectman and former small businessman is running a longshot campaign against incumbent Democrat Senator Christopher Murphy. Smith is a conservative and endorsed by the Connecticut GOP. Smith is facing primary opposition from Matt Corey, also a conservative local businessman, who has run for office on several previous occasions. The good news is that the campaigning by both candidates only serves to promote the conservative message to more Connecticut voters. While Corey’s campaign has concentrated on social media posts, Smith has concentrated more on meeting voters in small community settings.

Vermont and South Dakota

Vermont U.S. Senate and At-Large House:
Vermont has only a single Republican candidate running in the U.S. Senate primary and the At-Large Congressional seat.

South Dakota At Large
South Dakota doesn’t have a U.S. Senate race this cycle. Only one Democrat and one Republican filed for the state’s Al-Large Congressional seat. In the general election, Republican incumbent Dusty Miller will face Democrat challenger Sheryl Johnson for South Dakota’s At-Large congressional seat.

“Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: ‘In God is our trust.’
